📂 Business Problem & Strategy

Streaming platforms like Netflix offer a massive library of content, but it's often challenging to understand patterns in genre popularity, international availability, and viewer targeting over time. This project explores those questions through a simulated dataset modeled after global Netflix titles.

To tackle this, I created a Power BI dashboard that analyzes key trends in release years, countries, genres, and ratings. The goal was to surface insights that would help content teams, marketers, or media analysts understand how Netflix's offerings evolve—and how those patterns might impact future strategy.

Data Preparation: Cleaned and structured a simulated Netflix dataset using Excel and Power Query, ensuring consistent formats for genres, dates, and countries.
Data Modeling: Designed relationships between genres, countries, and release years to enable cross-filtering and trend exploration.
Visual Analytics: Built in Power BI with interactive visuals, filters, and calculated measures using DAX.
UX Design: Focused on intuitive layout and color balance to highlight global trends and viewer-relevant data points.
Publishing: Published on Power BI Public to enable interactive web access.

Genre Trends: Dramas and international films are consistently dominant, with documentaries and reality shows growing steadily in recent years.
Country Contributions: The U.S. and India produce the most content, but global diversity in Netflix's library has expanded significantly since 2017.
Ratings Breakdown: TV-MA remains the most common content rating, especially in recent years, reflecting a mature target audience.
Strategic Use: These insights could help content teams decide where to expand regional programming or balance genre offerings by market.
